Kids Rec: Float Your Boat Challenge
Participants will use everyday materials like foil, recycled plastics, and popsicle sticks to design, prototype, and construct their very own custom mini watercraft from scratch.
Calling all future engineers and innovators to the Float Your Boat Challenge, a hands-on STEM event where you will step into the shoes of real naval architects! Participants will use everyday materials like foil, recycled plastics, and popsicle sticks to design, prototype, and construct their very own custom mini watercraft from scratch. Once building is complete, your craft will face rigorous testing in our water bays to evaluate its stability, its cargo capacity under heavy weights, and its aerodynamic efficiency using wind propulsion. This interactive workshop explores core physical science concepts like buoyancy, displacement, and center of gravity in a high-energy environment. No prior engineering experience is required—just bring your creativity, your problem-solving skills, and a drive to innovate to see if your design can conquer the water!
Important: Kids Rec is limited to 15 participants. Parents must pre-register their children to attend. Spots are available on a first-come, first-served basis. Call 315-482-7926 or visit the front desk!
