Thousand Islands Arts Center - Weaving Museum & Art Classes
The Thousand Islands Arts Center, home of the Handweaving Museum, is a nonprofit educational institution dedicated to preserving traditional arts and supporting heritage crafts. Located in a historic village building in downtown Clayton, the Arts Center houses the only museum in the United States dedicated exclusively to the craft of weaving, featuring an extensive 20th century North American textile collection and research library. The facility includes two galleries presenting rotating art exhibitions, dedicated weaving and pottery studios, and offers over 125 classes and workshops annually in diverse disciplines including weaving, pottery, painting, photography, jewelry making, soap making, stained glass, and other heritage arts. The Arts Center serves 500+ students per year and hosts annual events including the Weaving History Conference, Antique Show & Sale, and Arts & Crafts Festival. Open year-round Monday through Friday with special weekend hours for events. Memberships and class registration available.
